NEW WORKER ORIENTATIONS
Newly arrived UC higher ed workers attend orientations to learn about their contractual rights, meet other new higher ed workers, and become members of their union. These orientations provide important context for new higher ed workers and are a key part of starting work at any UC campus, and higher ed workers have negotiated clauses in our contracts that require the University to schedule them.
If you’re a new worker and haven’t already been notified about your new worker orientation, choose one of the options below:
Postdocs and Academic Researchers
Email organize@uaw4811.org to schedule a one-on-one orientation with another Postdoc or Academic Researcher on your campus.
Student Workers
Email organize@uaw4811.org to contact an organizer about attending or scheduling an orientation in your department. These orientations are part of your paid time.
