UAW 4811 Statement on Cuts to HHS

The Trump administration’s decision to fire thousands of probationary employees at the Department of Health and Human Services is another move to dismantle science in the public interest and empower the billionaire class. Firing workers at the National Cancer Center, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and other agencies will shut down important public health research and slow progress on new treatments. Especially at a time of increased pandemic risk, these cuts are unacceptable and should be reversed as soon as possible.
