UAW 4811 Statement on Undocumented Students’ Procedural Win

On Wednesday, the California Supreme Court ordered the State Court of Appeals to hear a case brought against UC for its discrimination against undocumented students. Undocumented students at UC deserve to have their case heard on the merits. UC’s policy of refusing employment to undocumented students is a constant missed opportunity to lead on immigration justice, and it makes both UC and California less accessible. Academic workers have been proud to stand alongside the Undocumented-led Student Network in the effort to win fair employment, and this is an important procedural step toward that goal.
